Alusow of Worcester formerly of Brockton, May 19, 2006, Bertha (Williams) Alusow, 91 years. Wife of the late John F. Alusow. Mother of Janet M. Bobar and her husband Robert of Sierra Vista, AZ; Edward W. Alusow and his wife Cheryl of Worcester and the late John A. Alusow. Mother in law of Nancy J. Alusow of Boston. Grandmother of John E. Alusow and his wife Stephanie of Somerville, Stefanie Bobar and her husband Scott Machtley of Tempe, AZ; and Robert L. Bobar and his wife Sunshine of Seattle, WA
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123)Brockton Thursday at 11 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm.

Obituary

Bertha W. Alusow died Friday morning at the Lutheran Home in Worcester. She was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Mary A. (Powis) Williams. She was the wife of the late John F. Alusow, to whom she was married for 54 years. Mrs. Alusow lived her entire life in Brockton, while summering at White Horse Beach in Plymouth. She had been a resident of Emmanuel House for the past 3 years and previously lived at Earle Street Housing.
She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1932; she worked for her father at Williams Home Bakery in the Montello section of Brockton until her marriage in 1938. After raising three children, she retuned to work and retired from the City of Brockton School Department. She served as Librarian of St. Colman’s School and as a Teacher Aide at Lincoln School. Bertha was a member and leader of many social and civic organizations, including Demolay and Rainbow Mother’s Clubs, Brockton Women’s Club, P.M. Club, 5 & 9 Girls and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also volunteered with the Masonic Chapel Services at the Brockton Veterans Hospital.
Mrs. Alusow enjoyed knitting and crocheting, bingo, arts and crafts and had been a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet M. Bobar and her husband Robert of Sierra Vista, AZ; and a son, Edward W. Alusow and his wife Cheryl of Worcester. Her daughter in law Nancy J. Alusow of Boston, her grandchildren, John E. Alusow and his wife Stephanie of Somerville, Stefanie Bobar and her husband Scott Machtley of Tempe, AZ; and Robert L. Bobar and his wife Sunshine of Seattle, WA and many nieces and nephews.

She was the wife for 54 years of the late John F. Alusow and mother of the late John A. Alusow and sister of the late Ada Stinson, Verda Randall, Mill Packard, Jim, Ted and Art Williams
