Marie A. (Sherman) Harkins, 84, of Medway, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Franklin surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph H. Harkins, III who died in 1999.
Born in Waltham on August 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Irene (Crowley) Sherman.
Mrs. Harkins was a resident of Medway since 1965. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1957.
Before her retirement, she worked at Star Market in Franklin for 15 years and had previously been a school bus driver in Medway for 8 years.
Mrs. Harkins was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medway. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by; her son Joseph H. Harkins, IV of Bellingham; four daughters, Diane M. Harkins of Bellingham, Barbara A. Cook of St. Robert, Missouri, Theresa I. Best and her husband Patrick of Johnston, Rhode Island and Christine M. Harkins of Franklin.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Cook & Joshua Cook of St. Robert, Missouri, Elizabeth Cook of Vista, California, Sgt. Ryan Best of, Barksdale Air Force, LA, and Heather Best of Johnson, RI and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Christopher and Eric, all of St. Robert, Missouri, and her sister Patricia Walton of Connecticut.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Sherman and mother-in-law of the late Harold Cook.
Mrs. Harkin’s funeral services will take place privately at the request of her family with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
