Willametta (Runyan) Whitaker, passed away at home on October 5, 2022, following 102 glorious years.
She was born May 23, 1920 to Elwood farmers, Clyde and Celia (Tyner) Runyan.
Willametta was married to Robert Sparks, who passed away in 1944. In 1948, Willametta married Bill Whitaker, deceased 2021.
Over the years, Willametta had owned her own beauty shop, and later was employed at Delco, National Tile and downtown Hills department store, and lastly retiring from JC Penney. She had also been a volunteer at Community Hospital, known for her white glazed apple pies.
Willametta was a member of Bethany Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and mostly family.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Sparks Gentry (Max) and Connie Reding (Bill) all of Anderson; three grandsons, Jay Gentry (Maria), Mark Gentry (Amy) and Jonathan Reding (Toni); four great-grandchildren, Allison and Mallory Gentry, Alexander Gentry, and Levi Reding; and several nieces and nephews.
Willametta was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and siblings, Juanita Heston (Leon), Marjorie Dean (Maurice), and Mack (Rosanne) and Thurman Runyan (JoAnn).
A special thank you to Community Hospital Hospice team who was the upmost help these last weeks and also to the ministry team at Bethany Christian.
All are welcome to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, October 11, at 11:30 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Bob Bell.
Memorial contributions may be given to Community Hospital Hospice.
