Obituary

Dorothy Mae (Burke) Wright, 96, died peacefully and comfortably in the care and comfort of her family on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the family residence in Sudbury.
Dorothy was born at her family residence in Wayland on October 13, 1925 the daughter of the late Walter Burke and Elizabeth (Jaschinski) Burke.
She was married for 65 years to the late Warren Judd Wright who died on October 22, 2012.
She was the devoted mother of Norman C. Wright of Marietta, GA; Janice E. Fine and her husband Robert A. of New Port Richey, FL; Patricia B. Golden and her husband Ronald P. of Hudson and Jennifer R. Eckler and her husband Rich C. of Sudbury. She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, great-grandmother of eight and also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was the sister of the late Marguerite Urgotis, James Burke and Norman Burke.
Dorothy spent her earlier years in Wayland before moving with her family to Framingham. When she and Warren married, she moved to Wright Farm where they raised their family. She was a graduate of Framingham High School and for many years she was an Administrative Assistant at Digital in Maynard before retiring.
One of the things that she loved to do was being out in the yard, whether it was gardening, raking leaves, shoveling snow or walking her property.
For years, she and her siblings would gather at the residence in Sudbury on a Saturday evening and spend countless hours singing. Dorothy would play the piano and all would have a great family time together. She was a very competitive player of Chinese Checkers and stiff competition to whomever would challenge her to a game.
In earlier years, she and Warren were active members with the Senior Strutters of Sudbury. They also enjoyed dancing at Cary’s Old Time Dance Hall in Natick for years. They traveled to Italy and on Warren’s 65th birthday, they both climbed Ayers Rock in Australia.
The most important aspect of Dorothy’s life was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and all the time spent together with them. She will be fondly remembered and loved by all of the lives that she touched in her 96 years.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a prayer service at 7:15 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt 30), Wayland.
Private family interment will take place in Edgell Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that gifts in Dorothy’s memory may be sent to the Sudbury Senior Center, 40 Fairbanks Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.
