Obituary

Norman B. Nye, 81, of Manchester, NH died May 20, 2006 at the Elliot Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born in Lowell, MA, on May 11, 1925, the son of Carlyle J. and Glenn (Willey) Nye. After high school, Norman served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.

For most of his life he was employed as a meat cutter and was co-owner with his father of the Valley Meat Shop in Penacook. He had been manager of the former Mohegan Market and had also worked as a custodian for the Manchester School System.

Norman was an avid traveler and camper. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Members of his family include his wife of 27 years, Arlene F. (Labrecque) Nye of Manchester; three daughters, Carol Horan of Manchester, Brenda Murphy of Milford, and Kimberly Holden of Loudon; two step-sons, Robert Mailhot and David Mailhot, both of Manchester; one step-daughter, Denise Petrin of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

The funeral service was held in the Lambert Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday May 23, 2006 with the Rev. Maurice Lavigne officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester.
