Stanley B. Baran, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022 at the age of 100 surrounded by his loving family at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. He was married to the late Helen (Slavick) Baran for 66 years. Stanley was born in Berkley, MA on September 14, 1922. He was the son of the late Joseph and Tekla (Tabak) Baran, and a resident of Raynham for the past 73 years.
Stanley was the devoted father of Jane Baran and her late husband David Hoffman of Hadley, Barbara Ferreira and her husband David of Raynham, Beverly Mongeau and her late husband Robert of Harwich, Paul Baran of Taunton and Cynthia Baran and her husband Stephen McKenna of Brewster. He was the grandfather of Lori Williamson, Amy Ferreira, Sarah Hoffman and Bennett McKenna, and great grandfather of Ava Honaker. He was the brother of Joseph Baran and Joan Pena and her husband James of Raynham and the late John Baran, Michael Baran, Elizabeth Cwiertniewicz, Mildred Bigda, Mary Mallory and Frances Roche. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Stanley was a 1940 graduate of Monsignor James Coyle High School. He retired as a master electrician from Haskon Corporation. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seaman Second Class on the submarine, USS Skipjack. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal. Stanley was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling, and was a talented woodworker.
Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, October 7th from 9-10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 11:30 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
