SCARBOROUGH- Patricia C. Rounds, 87, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 1, 2022 at Gorham house after a long illness.
She was born in Portland on July 9, 1935, the first-born daughter of John and Rita (Sloan) Szot. She attended Windham Schools.
In 1954 she married Gilmore Rounds. They were married for 53 years. They were longtime residents of Scarborough where they raised four children.
Pat was employed by W.T. Grant Company in her younger years. She was a stay at home mother and homemaker for many years. She returned to work outside the home working in several local supermarkets, retiring from Shaw's Supermarkets.
Pat was known for her beautiful and bountiful gardens. She was talented at gardening, canning, cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. She was most famous for her bread making skills. She was an avid reader, often reading cookbooks like a novel. Some of her signature creations included braided breads, Pottie Pies, Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles and "Mystery" jellies. She was an artist in her kitchen. Cooking for her family was her passion and you best not be late for supper! She ruled the roost. Her holiday and cooking traditions are being continued by her children and grandchildren.
Pat is predeceased by her husband Gilmore Rounds and her grandson Joshua Kuck, both in 2007.
She is survived by her family; son Stephen Rounds and his wife Wanda of Hollis; daughter Kimberley Snell and husband Christopher of Gorham; daughter Prudence Todd and husband Dana Temple of Cape Elizabeth; daughter Susan Forkum and husband Larry of Rochester, NH. Her grandchildren who fondly called her Bapie; Rebekka Conley and husband Kevin; Carl Rounds; Gregory Snell and wife Faina Buhker; Jacqueline Passalacqua and husband Steven, Alan Rounds and fiancee Adrienne Munger. Great grandchildren; Brooklyn, Trevor, Spencer, Isabella and Lenora.
Respecting Pat's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and no flowers please. Arrangements are with Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service.
