Ronald M. Brown, 90

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Ronald M. Brown, age 90, of Taunton and Middleboro, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 2, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen C. (Vaughan) Brown.

Born in Taunton, MA on May 28, 1932, he was a loving son of the late Frank S. and Alice M. (Whalon) Brown.

Ron grew up in Taunton and was 1950 graduate of Taunton High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and later attended Fisher Junior College.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Brown worked for the United States Postal Service, a career that spanned thirty-one years and retired with the position of Postmaster for the Town of Marion. He also served as a former Police Officer on the Norton Police Department.

Ron was a member and Past Master of King David Masonic Lodge in Taunton. He loved his family deeply and for the past four years was exceptionally cared for by his daughter Helen. Ron also enjoyed painting and was an avid bowler.

He was the devoted father of Helen C. Pontes and her husband Bruce of Taunton and the late Ronald G. Brown and Scott D. Brown. He was the dear brother of the late Marilyn Souza, Richard Brown and Frank Brown, who was killed in action during WWII. He is also survived by his cherished 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as his loving nieces and nephews, his great nephew Jimbo, whom he loved dearly and Cindy “Mouse” Mello.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service with military honors on Thursday, October 6th at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Ronald’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701.
