CHICOPEE – Maurice N. Sabourin, 94, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 30, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born and in Ottawa, Province of Ontario, Canada on July 1, 1928 and was raised and educated there before moving to Holyoke in 1951. He later moved to Chicopee in 1961 where he resided the remainder of his life. He was employed for 37 years at the former National Blank Book, which later became Dennison National and later Avery-Dennison in Chicopee, and retired in 1989 as a Customer Return Group Leader. He had served as the first Vice President of the Graphic Arts and Lithographer’s Union Local 48B and the President of the Mutual Aid Association at Dennison. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Lucette R. (Lafontaine) Sabourin. They were married on May 21, 1955 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Lynn L. Wiedenroth and her husband, Reverend Curt Wiedenroth, of Burlington and Marc M. Sabourin and his wife, Brandi, of Chicopee; his five cherished grandchildren, Joshua Wiedenroth and his wife, Erica, Jarred Wiedenroth and his wife, Lauren, Sarah Kinchley and her husband, Doug, Sean Canavan and Steven Sabourin; his nine cherished great grandchildren, Gianna, Jackson, Austin, Kaiya, Khloe, Jamison and Linkin Wiedenroth and Brady and Beckett Kinchley; his dear sister in law, Colette Marcotte of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please meet directly at the church). His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
