Marjorie I. (Balcam) Wall, 92, of Whitman, Massachusetts passed away on September 25.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1930, she was the oldest daughter of Arthur and Doris Balcam. She spent much of her childhood in Wollaston, MA then her family moved to Mattapan and she graduated from Hyde Park High School.
After graduation, she worked for the First National Bank of Boston where she met her husband and they moved to Whitman in 1960. She returned to the workforce in the mid-1970s with the New England Telephone Company.
In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting much of which was donated to charities, reading, corresponding with family and friends by letter and eventually e-mail. In the evening she enjoyed watching the news, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the Boston Red Sox.
Marge was the wife of the late Leo F. Wall for 53 years and the sister of the late H. James Balcam and Helen Granger. She leaves behind her children, Robert Wall of Holbrook and Marjorie Gould and her husband Jonathan of Westport Island, Maine. She also leaves her loving grandchildren Jason Gould and his wife Cecilia of Brooklyn, NY, Jenna Gould of Ringgold, GA and Patrick Wall of Los Angeles, CA.
Family and friends and invited to attend to her visiting hour on Saturday October 22 from 12:00-1:00 PM followed by a service at 1:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte.58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marge’s memory may be made to the Whitman Council on Aging, 16 Hayden Avenue, Whitman, MA 02382 and the Whitman Fire Gift Fund, 56 Temple Street, Whitman, MA 02382.
