Robert P. Nunes, 73, of Mattapoisett died May 19, 2006 at Nichols House Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Domingo and Isabelle (Sousa) Nunes, he lived in Marion and Mattapoisett most of his life.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1953.
Mr. Nunes was formerly the proprietor of Robert P. Nunes Builder, building many homes in the tri-town area.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member and former commander of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post, and a member of the Marion Police Association. He enjoyed boating.
Survivors include a son, Robert D. Nunes and his wife Brenda of Hudson, NH; two daughters, Gail A. Robinson and her husband David of Norton and Polly I. Guilbeault and her husband Andrew of Dartmouth; a sister, Carolyn Alves of Mattapoisett; and six grandchildren, Chelsea, Matthew, Sabrina, Connor, Owen and Christopher.
Visiting hours Thursday, May 25th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private.
