John S. “Jack” O´Brien, of Medford, died Thursday at the Lahey Clinic, surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
A life-long Medford resident, Jack was the son of the late John and Ludivina (Hebert) O’Brien.
After high school Jack served with the Army. Upon his return he graduated from Northeastern University and embarked upon a career as an accountant. A man with broad interests and abilities, Jack loved the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisher and enjoyed skiing. He was proud of his garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of work with family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of Elinor (Capozzi) O’Brien. He was a devoted father to Julie A. Reynolds and her husband Keith, Stephanie O'Brien and her husband Kevin Finneran. He was a loving grandfather to Harrison. He was a dear brother of Herbert J. O'Brien the late Patricia Thornton and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit Sunday, 4 thru 8, at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Monday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in Sacred Heart Church, North Square, Boston, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Jack’s name to the American Lung Association, Lung Cancer Research, 460 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, 02451-1991.
