Laurie Anderson, aged 75, of Ventura, California, passed away on September 6, 2022, in Oxnard, California. She was born in Van Nuys to Bud and June Sirak on February 14, 1947. She went to high school at James Monroe High School in Sepulveda and graduated in 1965. Later in her professional life, she decided to go back to college and earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Speech Communication from Northridge State University. Laurie enjoyed reading, exploring America in her motorhome with her husband, Jack, and their dogs, taking long walks, listening to Motown music, and spending time with her family. She was involved with the California Federation of Business and Professional Women's Organization for many years being passionate about women's equity issues in the home and workplace. She loved dogs and volunteered at the local Humane Society of Ventura County.
She was passionate about walking the Ventura neighborhoods close to where she lived. She would be walking two to three hours every morning. That led to her training for her first LA Marathon. Having completed a number of California marathons, she moved on to the Rock'n Roll series of races throughout the country becoming a RockStar after completing seven races over the summer of 2008.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Jack of Ventura and her daughter, Dana Brazelton Topel (Jack) of Bellevue, Idaho and her son, Neil Pascale (Lysa) of Roseville, Minnesota. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Sirak of Memphis, Tennessee and her brother, David Sirak of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren Katy and Noah Pascale of Duluth and Roseville, Minnesota, respectively. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Laurie's ready smile and fighting spirit will be missed by family, friends and neighbors that had the privilege of knowing and loving her. May she rest in peace.
