Mikele Yvette Rebeiro Haynes, 51 of Providence, Rhode Island passed away suddenly, Monday, September 19,
2022. The beloved daughter of Patricia Haynes and Albert Rebeiro, Mikele was born on August 12, 1971
in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Mikele’s dedication to and love of her family is unparalleled. She is the proud, adoring and devoted
mother of Juston Dason Williams, of East Providence. She enjoyed sharing time with his siblings, her
bonus blessings, Chanel, Herb, Brooklyn and Ed. Mikele’s natural ability to bring people together in joy,
laughter and love ensured that family bonds were strengthened by her unyielding protectiveness and
loyalty, particularly to her, mother, and children. She loved people unconditionally and as such she was
loved unconditionally.
Mikele was a strong advocate for family, friends and those in need. She was strong willed, brave and was
not afraid to assert herself taking a stand for what she believed in- mostly strong family values. She was
selfless in her service, not only to family but also to others as a health care provider, right up until her final
days. Mikele also loved animals and all her fur babies, Logan, her dog and cats, Ricky, Lucy, Louie and
Smokey were an important part of her life.
Mikele was a creative person, with an uncanny flair for fashion, pop-culture, music and had a stellar knack
for interior decorating. She invited, you in and knew how to make everyone feel welcome. She was the
personification of the Cape Verdean term “morabeza”, meaning friendly, casual and relaxed. Mikele’s
spirit was electric, her charisma unique and unsurpassed. She shared her warmth and sense of humor
regularly and graciously. Mikele could find the humor in every situation. She was blessed with an innate
ability to make you laugh even when she was in turmoil. She was the brightest light in the darkest of
hours.
Mikele’s radiant light is eternal, like her love it will never diminish.
Mikele is survived by the above named children, and parents. She was the bonus daughter of the the late
Mac Arthur Jones, Kimani Jones (his son) of Los Angeles and Kerrie Gomes (sister), of New Bedford a
cousin/brother Derrick Ambose of Orlando, Florida. She was the maternal grandaughter of the late
William and Juanita Haynes. The paternal grandaughter of the late Manuel Rebeiro and Amelia Pires
Rebeiro. Mikele is the maternal niece of Carol Lee of Lousianna, and Dawn Marie Haynes of Los
Angeles. Her paternal aunts are Dolores Richards and her husband Ralph Richards of New Bedford,
God-mother Amelia “Cookie” Ambrose of Darthmouth, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Tavares of Canton and Vivian
and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Santos of New Bedford. Also, Mikele is the paternal niece of Archie
Rebeiro of New Bedford, David Rebeiro of New Bedford, the late Robert “Bobby” Rebeiro, Manuel “Doon
Doon” Rebeiro, Norman Rebeiro, Roger “Dino” Rebeiro, Joaquim “Jackie” Rebeiro. Mikele had a
multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and god-children and she enjoyed a treasured and special
relationship with each of them, they all held a special place in her heart.
Mikele’s funeral services and Celebration of Life will be held on, Friday, September 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM
at the International Church of the Nazarene, 278 Pleasant St. New Bedford, Ma 02740. Burial will be in
Rural Cemetary. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 4:00- 8:00 PM at
Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, Ma. Please feel free to send expressions
