Joanna Coskie (a.k.a. Kupstas) Dabrila, 95, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in her home with her family at her side. Her husband of sixty-six years, Zigmas Dabrila died in 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Asta Dabrila and her husband Mark Makowski; and Gita Dabrila Sullivan and her husband Emmett; three Sullivan grandchildren, Redmond, Aidas and Eliana; and several nieces and nephews in Lithuania and America. She was predeceased by a son Svajunas Dabrila in 1968 and a sister, Genovaite Varnagiriene in Lithuania in 2015
Mrs. Dabrila was a homemaker for most of her life. She immigrated to the United States in 1950 and became an active member of the former St. Casimir Parish. She was a member of the St. Casimir’s Women’s Club (A.L.R.K Moteru Sajunga), taught and administered at the Worcester Lithuanian Saturday School and was a member of the Lithuanian Art Lover’s Circle. She was a member of St. John Church. Joanna learned to become a good Lithuanian cook, her potato pancakes and Christmas Eve Kucios dinners were unparalleled, she loved dancing, enjoyed gardening, watching professional tennis, and developed a refined skill of worrying.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St. Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
