Charles T. Vanasse, Sr., 90, of Village Drive, Smithfield, passed away and surrounded by his family on Saturday September 17th in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Delphine G. (Finlay) Vanasse. They had been married for 67 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Pierre and Marie (Cote) Vanasse. He had lived in Smithfield for 2 years previously living in Johnston for over 65 years.
He had been a weaver with Worcester Textiles in North Providence before retiring in the 1990’s.
Charlie enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing horseshoes and corn holes. He was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed family cookouts and doing cross word puzzles.
Besides his wife he also leaves his children, Charles T. Vanasse, Jr. of Smithfield, Kevin Vanasse of Smithfield, Pamala Bekier of Johnston and Bruce Vanasse of North Providence. He was the grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 9. He was the father of the late Jeffrey Vanasse.
A funeral service will be held on Friday September 23rd am 11am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Grenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation will be on Thursday September 22nd from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to any association that supports heart health.
