Obituary

Lesa Elaine Hawes

Sunrise: February 3, 1962 Sunset: September 5, 2022

Lesa Elaine Hawes was born in Augusta Georgia to the late Lorraine (Hawes) Bell and the late John W. Hawes. She was born the third of nine children. The family moved to Boston, MA when she was nine years old.

Lesa was educated through the Boston Public Schools system. She had numerous jobs, but the one she did the most was being a home health aid.

Lesa enjoyed being around her nieces, nephews and family. Her hobby included cooking fried chicken and making bomb grits! She loved her sisters and brothers. She took care of all of them. She was very protective of her family. Lesa was always a comedian! She created her own vocabulary! She would always have people laughing. Her sense of humor was one in a million! You can always win her heart with Corn Flakes and bananas!

Lesa was an intelligent woman who felt deep. She was a very selfless person-always being genuinely being there for other peoples’ trials and tribulations. She shared her experiences in life to help others.

She loved looking good and being color-coordinated! She loved shopping and going to the casino. She loved helping with schoolwork and spending time with her great-nieces and nephews.

Lisa did know and love the Lord! She always claimed New Hope Baptist Church as “her church!”

Lesa left this earth on September 5, 2022. Preceding her in death were her parents Lorraine Bell and John Hawes, sister Laura Jean Hawes and Angela Bell. She leaves to cherish her memories: uncle Larry Butler (Augusta, GA) brothers Willie J. Hawes (Boston, MA), Melvin C. Hawes (Lowell, MA), Gregory (Nadine) Hawes (Randolph, MA), sisters Kathy Hawes (Boston, MA), Cynthia Bell (Charlestown, MA), and Karen Theresa Bell (Hawes)(Boston, MA); nieces Shamara Elaine Hawes (her namesake), Marelle Hawes, Nakia Mason-Perea; nephews Kareem Dodson, Lawrence Sullivan, Hassan Mason, Travon Mason, and a host of great nieces and nephews and cousins, and special friends Rico Auguste and Dottie.

Until We Meet Again:
Those special memories of you will always bring a smile
If I could bring you back just for a little while
Then we could sit and talk again like we used to do
You always meant so very much to me and always will too
The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain
But you are forever in my heart until we meet again.
-Donna Jones
