SOUTH HADLEY - Wilfred E. “Will” Fontaine, 81, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 16, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall North in Agawam surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on December 29, 1940, the beloved son of the late Wilfred F. and Eva V. (Martel) Fontaine. He was raised in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School in 1958 and had lived in Springfield and Granby before returning to Springfield in 2015. He was employed as an Expeditor for 34 years at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT and retired in 1998. He was a member of the Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society for many years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his two loving children, Catherine Zimmerman and her husband, Bob, of Chicopee and Michael Fontaine and his wife, Laurie, of South Hadley; his seven cherished granddaughters, Maria and Erica Zimmerman, Andrea Vallan and Amanda, Maddie, Rosemary and Bridgett Fontaine; his cherished great grandson, Henry Vallan; and his many dear extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his loving son, Wilfred E. “Will” Fontaine who was Called Home on November 8 2018; his dear half sister, Theresa Francour and her husband, Edward; and his former wife, Arlene (Butler) Fontaine. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65-73 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
