Carol (Mendes) Gomes, 82, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was the wife of Donald Gomes.
Born in Nantucket, daughter of the late Antone and Alice (Nichols) Mendes, she lived on Nantucket until her 20's. She spent several years in New York before settling in New Bedford.
Carol loved to knit, and spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her annual girls trip to Cancun. Carol worked as an office manager in the Bristol County Juvenile Court for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; her daughters, Donelle Gomes-Talley, and Deanne Gomes-Stanley both of New Bedford; her step-children, Desiree Martin of New Bedford, and Carlos Martin and his wife Elizabeth of CA; a brother, Robert Mendes; brothers-in-law Paul and Joseph Gomes, and J. L. Fox; her grandchildren, Cameron Stanley, Hailey Stanley, Nancy Martin, Hope Martin and Cellen Martin; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She is predeceased by her sister, Donna Fox; and her son-in-law Terrence Talley.
Carol's wake will be held Monday, September 19th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Southcoast VNA https://www.southcoast.org/philanthropy/annual-fund/
