Evelyn F. (Pelchar) Roy, age 96, passed away on Sept. 9, 2022 at the Chicopee Rehab and
Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 1, 1926 in Chicopee to the late Frank and Marceline (Oczchowski)
Pelchar. Evelyn was a communicant of St Stanislaus Basilica. She worked as a secretary for the former
Chicopee Manufacturing/ Facemate in Chicopee for many years before she retired. She was a former
member of the Chicopee Moose Family Lodge Post 1849 and spent many years on Otis Reservoir. She is
predeceased by her husband Richard Roy who passed away in 2001 as well as her three brothers, F.
Thomas, Robert and Richard Pelchar. She is survived by her loving son Carlton Roy and his wife Maryann
of Granby; her loving daughter Susan Benoit of West Springfield; five grandchildren Carlton Roy Jr, Keith
Roy, Gennifer Roy, Jesse Benoit and Zachary Benoit; four great grandchildren, Jaxson and Lawrence Roy,
Carson and Wesley Benoit along with her many beloved nieces and nephews and her dear friend Betty
Kida and very dearest friend Celia Matras. Evelyn's family would like to thank the staff at Chicopee Rehab and especially the wonderful people of New England Hospice for the love and care shown to her throughout her lengthy stay. (Even when she was being "feisty".) Calling hours will be held, on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 4:00 –
7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on
Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by an in house prayer service
at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in St Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee. Memorial contributions may be
