Obituary

William Leo Warren, Jr., 80, of Ty Ty passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, at the home of Jelks and Amy Warren with his family beside him. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday September 11, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Mr. Warren will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Linda Gail Cottle Warren, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 11, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Bo Lovein, Bob Lovein, Corey Cottle, Max Brown, Daniel Berckman, Jack Perry, Carroll Cannon, Greg Branch, Jim Lever and Lynseay Mullis will serve as pallbearers. Chad Cottle, Rufus “Bunchy” Evans and Bob Hammond will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born May 20, 1942, in Tifton, Georgia, Mr. Warren was the son of the late William Leo Warren, Sr, and Mary Evelyn Short. He served in the Georgia National guard for 6 years and worked as a lineman for Georgia Power for 40 years, 8 months and 15 days. He consistently donated blood six times a year to the American Red Cross totaling more than 23 gallons of blood throughout his life. He was ordained a deacon in the Baptist Church in 1975 and served at Ty Ty Baptist Church and later at First Baptist Church in Tifton.

Mr. Warren is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, William “Brian” Warren of Lakeland, Florida and Jelks and Dr. Amy Walker Warren of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Wendell Pearson and one brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Linda Warren, all of Tifton; and five grandchildren, Madeline L. Warren, John Thomas Warren, Jobe Jelks Warren, Elliott Claire Warren, and Lily Elizabeth Warren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Charlie Katherine Mullis for her long-time love, patience and care and to Beverly (Evette) Dennard for her care and support during the final weeks of his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Boy Ranch, 5671 Georgia Highway 122, Hahira, GA 31632.
