Obituary

Josephine M. (Ramos) Andrews, 76, of Mattapoisett died Tuesday August 6, 2002 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Antone Andrews,and daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Souza) Ramos.

Mrs. Andrews was born in New Bedford and had lived in Mattapoisett for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett where she was a member of the Women's Guild.

Mrs. Andrews was employed as a bus matron for the Town of Mattapoisett for several years.

She was a member the Florence Eastman American Legion Post 280 Ladies Auxiliary in Mattapoisett. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, hooking rugs, baking, cake decorating, dancing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 sons, Antone J. "Tony" Andrews and his wife Joanne, of Mattapoisett, and Barry J. Andrews and his fiancée Beth Agrillo, of Bourne; 2 daughters, Blanche M. Perry and her husband Louis, and Natalie J. Taber and her husband Carl, all of Mattapoisett; 2 brothers, Alfred Ramos of Texas and Leonard Ramos of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Dorothy Livramento and Joan Monteiro, both of New Bedford, and Alice Silva of Westminster, Cal.; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Perry, Kevin Perry, Melissa Velasquez, Phillip Andrews, Paul Andrews, Amy Hansmann, Stephanie Taber, Timothy Taber, Justin Andrews and Leslie Andrews; 2 great-grandchildren, Kayla Perry and Edwin Velasquez; and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Blanche Ramos, Joseph Ramos, Jr., Kenneth Ramos and Norman Ramos.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Friday August 9, 2002 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday August 8, 2002 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Missionaries of Charity, 556 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740 or to the St. Mary's Education Fund, Diocese of Fall River, P.O. Box 1470, Fall River, MA 02722-1470.
