Paul F. Carchedi, 69, of Bellingham passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Ellen Meigs for over 20 years.
Born in Norwood on May 22, 1953, he was the son of the late Pietro and Mary (Cullinane) Carchedi.
Paul was a resident of Bellingham for the past 22 years and formerly resided in Franklin.
He grew up in Walpole, graduated from Walpole High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College and later his MBA from Northeastern University.
Before his retirement Paul worked as a senior accountant at Garelick Farms in Franklin for 15 years.
Paul was a longtime umpire for USSSA Softball and also coached and managed, served as an area director and a state director, and was a member of the Hall of Fame Committee, as well as being inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame. Softball brought Paul and Ellen together when he umpired her games.
Paul was an avid New England sports fan, loved golf, playing cards, collecting baseball cards, watching westerns and war movies and spending time with his family and friends. Paul and Ellen enjoyed travelling around the world, each time having a new adventure and building a new memory. He especially loved being Uncle Paul and Grampa Paul to all his nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Carchedi, his daughter Heather Gosselin and her husband Donald, of Thompson, Connecticut, and three grandchildren, Ember, Sophia and Owen.
He is also survived by his brother David Carchedi and his wife Karen of Charlestown, Rhode Island, his sister Nancy Carchedi and friend Richard Green of Pelham, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, September 11th from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 12 at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Private burial will take place in Meeting House Cemetery in Danville, New Hampshire.
