John (Jay) A. O’Donnell (64) died September 6th in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health.
He was born in Brockton son of the late John (Jack) O’Donnell Sr. and Nina (Giovannello) O’Donnell. Jay was the owner of the Baystate Line Company, worked for National Grid for over 20 years, drove for the Ryder Truck Transportation Company and worked for the Midlantic Markings Inc in Maryland. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and was an outstanding baseball player in high school with many of his achievements recorded in the Brockton Enterprise. Jay loved the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching old movies, listening to classic rock, playing shuffleboard, camping, playing cards and traveling. Jay loved socializing with family and his many friends and was known to enjoy a fine cigar and liquid beverage while at the various local establishments.
Jay is survived by his daughter Jessica O’Donnell of Taunton, his former wife Cindy LoConte O’Donnell, 2 brothers, Mike O’Donnell of Brockton and Mike Whalen of Florida, 2 sisters, Cathy Peliquin of New Bedford and Gina Hoyte of Taunton, his granddaughter Jissele Burke, many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Fiske Family.
Funeral Services in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Monday September 19th at 11 am with Rev. “Flathead Tom” Iddings officiating. Burial to follow in Union Cemetery, 327 Centre Street Brockton. Viewing from 9 am prior to services.
