Francis Xavier Graney, Sr.

TEWKSBURY: Francis Xavier “Frank” Graney, Sr., age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for over 60 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington on Friday, September 2, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine M. (Ciampo) Graney, who passed away on January 28, 2018.
Born in Boston on April 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Arthur Graney and the late Mary B. (Thornton) Graney.
Frank was raised in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston and Woburn.
He attended local schools, graduated from Woburn High School, and attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he received his A.S. Degree in mechanical engineering.
Frank served in the U.S. Army National Guard on was honorably discharged on December 6, 1962.
During his career in engineering, Frank invented and designed many products and equipment holding many patents over his lifetime. His first successful patented invention was the Super Split Mechanical Log Splitter.
He loved tinkering and working on anything mechanical. In addition, he enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time in Florida.
Frank was a member of the Tewksbury Elks Post # 2070 as well as the Moose Lodge in Port Charlotte, FL.
He is survived by his children, Debra J. Graney and her significant other, Tim Fram, of Lowell, Karen M. Foskitt, of Merrimack, NH, Donna L. Tziolis and her companion, Robert Vieira, of Tyngsboro, and Frank X. “Frankie” Graney, Jr. and his significant other, Tracey Boettcher, of Salem, OR: four grandchildren, Brittany J. Foskitt, Katherine Graney, Anastasios “Nicholas” Tziolis and Joseph Graney: four great grandchildren, Jacob Mayou, Rhea Tziolis, Nicholas “Niko” Tziolis, and Jordan Garfield. Frank was the brother of Thomas Graney and his late wife Geraldine, of Saugus, CA, John Graney and his wife Margaret, of Wilmington, and the late Mary (Graney) Carey and her late husband James. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Friday, September 9, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Saturday, September 10, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury.
