Wolcott (Tony) Gibbs, Jr. of Ojai, CA, died peacefully at 4:30 am on September 2, 2022 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Lynne M. Gibbs, his sons William B. Gibbs of Southington, CT, Eric W. Gibbs of Reedsport, OR, and his stepdaughter Madeleine Trautwein of Santa Barbara, CA. In his career as a writer and journalist, Tony served as Senior Editor of Yachting and the New Yorker publications while authoring a number of mystery/suspense novels.
Tony loved sailing and boating, spending countless hours on the water. In retirement, he served as a volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In addition, his love of dogs was reflected in his volunteer service with the Canine Adoption and Rescue League of Ventura, CA, and the Humane Society of Ventura County, Ojai. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to C.A.R.L, the Canine Adoption and Rescue League (https://carldogs.org). The family wishes to extend gratitude to the wonderful staff of Mountain Vista of Ojai and Assisted Home Health and Hospice who provided such loving care to Tony during his last months.
