James R. Lord, 76

James R. Lord, age 76, of Taunton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 5, 2022 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of Maryjane (Scanlon) Lord, to whom he was wed for fifty-four years.
Born in Brunswick, Maine on July 18, 1946, he was a loving son of the late Joseph Lord and Jeannette (Schinck) Lord-Tomko.
Jim grew up in Brunswick, Maine, was a 1964 graduate of Brunswick High School and continued his education, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine Orono. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and for thirty years in the Naval Reserves, with the SeaBees. He retired with the rank of Commander.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Lord was employed as a Civil Engineer for thirty-seven years. He had made his home in Taunton for the past twenty-six years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton.
Jim’s favorite times were those spent amongst his loving family and friends. He was a passionate golfer and a member of the Poquoy Brook Golf Club in Lakeville, where he was known as the “Commish” of the Legends Group.
Along with his wife Maryjane, they enjoyed traveling with Tauck Tours, spending the winter months in Scottsdale, Arizona and the summer months at Biddeford Pool in Maine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Susan Gosselin and her husband Brian of Manchester, NH, Jim Lord and his wife Donna of Hooksett, NH and Michelle McManus and her husband Chris of Pembroke, MA. He was the cherished Pepere of Ryan, Makenna, Wil and Connor and the much-loved brother-in-law of Peter Scanlon and his wife Jean of Portland, ME. He was pre-deceased by 3 brothers and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 16th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street in Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17th at 11:00 in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street in Norton, followed by military honors at the conclusion of services. Burial will take place privately, at a later date, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 or the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115.
