Frank Paul LaGambina, 93, of Malden, passed away on Thursday, September 1st. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Butori) LaGambina and the devoted father of Robin LaGambina of Stoneham, Frank LaGambina, Jr. and his wife Ann of Medford, Susan LaGambina of Somerville, Sebastian LaGambina and his wife Susan of Salem, NH, Dominick LaGambina and his wife Marie of Stoneham, the late Sarina Grammas, and step-father of Helen Ryan. Frank is survived by nine loving grandchildren and nine loving great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Pasquale, and John LaGambina, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Frank’s passions in life included classical music, fly-fishing, and history. He was an active member of Trout Unlimited and a master angler often traveling on fly-fishing trips to New Hampshire, Montana, and Nova Scotia. Frank was an avid reader, especially of the classical antiquity era with an emphasis on Ancient Rome, the Roman Empire, and the contributions of Italians and Italian civilizations to world culture.
Frank proudly served as a Radioman in the United States Navy during portions of World War II and the Korean War. During his tenure in the Navy he traveled around the world serving aboard the USS Princeton and was also stationed at CINCPAC in Hawaii. Member of American Legion Post 45 and Life Member of the DAV.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St, Medford, on Wednesday, September 7th at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 9 through 11 AM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
