Mary Lucille "Lu" Wade
December 16, 1955- September 1, 2022
Mary Lucille “Lu” Wade, 66, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away September 1, 2022, from long-term complications of Covid.
Lu was born December 16, 1955, in Anderson, Indiana, was the daughter of Charles “Bud” and Esta Mae Hunter and graduated from Madison Heights High School. Over the course of her career, she worked in retail management for Walmart and Village Pantry and drove a school bus for the Anderson Community School Corporation, but her most important job was being a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved people and was always ready to serve in whatever ways she was needed. Her bright smile will be missed by many.
Lu loved to scrapbook and cook and made amazing macaroni and cheese. She was the ultimate Colts fan and often spent Sundays during football season cheering for her team. She never met a chocolate cake she didn’t like.
Lu was a warrior. She survived three bouts with cancer and two major heart attacks. She had a deep Christian faith and was an instrumental member of the church. She often said, “Can’t never did anything.”
Lu was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Audra (1984), granddaughter Arianna Machelle (2000) and granddaughter Kyla Jordan (2020). She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jeff; her daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Timmons of Anderson; son Jeremy (Katrina) Wade of Cape Coral, Florida; son David (Hayley Fickett) Wade of Naples, Florida; son Jared Wade of Muncie, Indiana, and her grandchildren Xavian Wade and Elizabeth Timmons. She is also survived by her siblings Jack (Georgia) Hunter, Karen Ballard, Tom Hunter, Anita (Mike) Sedwick and Lorin Hunter; her extended Wade family, her nieces and nephews and the endless friends she welcomed into her chosen family.
Services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 12:00 pm with calling from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Services in Anderson with Pastor Eric George of Muncie Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will be held at Anderson Memorial Park immediately following the funeral.
