Obituary

Marie Rose (Mimy) Rigueur, 74, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts after a long courageous battle with cancer.
FiFi, as she was affectionately known, was born on April 17, 1948 in Ca-Ira Leogane, Haiti, to the late Dominique Martin and Clercina Marthe Mimy. She grew up as the youngest child surrounded by her older sister Giselle Eveillard and older brother Edner Mimy.
She first married Jean Ernst Abellard in Leogane before moving together to the United States in 1973. After many years, she was married to Pressoir Rigueur who became her life companion until his death in 2020. In 2004, FiFi had decided to move to New Bedford, Massachusetts in search of a better life.
While in New York, FiFi, a devoted mother, truly lived life to the fullest through simple daily pleasures, working, partying and constantly socializing with friends and family. She enjoyed making organizing weekend bus trips to Atlantic City "Cling Cling," so famously called by her in reference to the slots machines with their incessant exciting sounds. She also loved playing bingo making it as a family outing.
She will be remembered for her passion for life and her fearless fiery spirit that served to strengthen other people around her throughout her whole life. Her long aggressive cancer battle is a blatant testimony of her strength that manifested all the time regardless of the rapid deterioration of her health.
