NORTH WATERBORO- Debora Furlong Wentworth, 65, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, September 1 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Waterboro, Maine. Debbie’s passing was the culmination of a months-long battle with ovarian cancer, which she fought bravely and with unparalleled positivity.
Debbie, born in Haverhill, MA in 1957 to Janice and Carl Furlong, attended Haverhill High School before enrolling in Bates College, where she met her husband, Nathan Wentworth, and graduated in the class of 1979. After starting a family in Salem, NH, Debbie eventually settled in North Andover, MA where she raised her three children, Ashley, Matthew, and Jonathan.
While her professional life revolved primarily around her job as a supply chain manager for Lucent Alcatel/Nokia, Debbie’s identity was truly centered upon two joys: her family and her faith. From skiing at Sunday River, to summering at Seabrook beach, to the everyday minutia of parenting, Debbie dedicated herself to spending quality time with her children. She also became of a pillar of the Catholic community at St. Michael’s Parish in North Andover before making a spiritual impact on St. Matthew Church in Limerick, ME with her work in WINGS.
Anyone who knew Debbie understood that maybe more than any other, the role that she was born to play was being a grandmother. She bragged of the four loves of her life constantly and was always the happiest when spending time with them or chatting through the portal.
Debbie is survived by her parents, Janice and Carl Furlong; husband, Nathan Wentworth; sister, Linda Kelly; three children, Ashley Kernan, Matthew Wentworth, and Jonathan Wentworth; and four grandchildren, Grady Wentworth, Kasey Kernan, Beckham Wentworth, and Madison Kernan. Visitation hours will be on Thursday, September 8 at Farmer and Sons Funeral Home in Bradford, MA, followed by funeral services at Sacred Heart Church in Bradford, MA at 11am and a graveside burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
Local arrangements are with Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton, www.mainefuneral.com
