Helen H. (Hargraves) Cole, 100, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2022. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Cole.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late James E. and Emma A. (Martin) Hargraves, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Autumn Glen in Dartmouth.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Helen was formerly employed as a taxpayer service representative for the Internal Revenue Service in New Bedford and Taunton until her retirement.
An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Whaling City Golf Course and the Country Club of New Bedford. She also enjoyed swimming and diving. She was a former member of the Catholic Woman’s Club.
She is survived by two sons, Richard T. Cole and his wife Jo-Ann and Daniel L. Cole and his wife Anna; two granddaughters, Diana and Meghan; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Kristen; her niece, Pauline Helen Dowd; and her grandnieces and grandnephew, Catherine, Patricia, and James.
She was the sister of the late William E. Hargraves and Edna Pallatroni.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday September 6th at 12 Noon at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday September 5th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
