Obituary

Thomas R. Slocum, 63, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly at Good Samaritan Hospital on August 29, 2022.

Born in South Weymouth in 1959 to Jane (Radcliff) Slocum of Florida and the late Robert Slocum.

Graduating from Whitman-Hanson High School in 1977, he spent many years as a machinist at Northeastern Calipers in Whitman, Ma. before joining what, he would now consider his second family at Thorndike Corporation in East Bridgewater.

Tom was an avid woodsman and outdoorsman, always looking forward to a trip to Maine with his brothers and close friends. He enjoyed the craftsmanship of woodworking often gifting family members with intricate hand carved pieces of furniture. He was a motorcycle enthusiast that enjoyed restoring and riding his 1976 Harley Davidson.
He proudly purchased his home in East Bridgewater in 1993 and resided in this residence until the time of his death.

Tom leaves behind his daughter, Amanda Slocum of Brockton, two stepdaughters Rebecca Roderick of Summerville, South Carolina and Jennifer Farrell of East Bridgewater and 5 grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings, Ken Slocum and wife Jeannine of Whitman, Ted Slocum and wife Coleen of Duxbury and Debra (Slocum) Harris and husband Craig of Warner, New Hampshire along with several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday September 1 from 5-7 PM followed by a service at 7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte.58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Veterans of Foreign Affairs, 95 Essex Street, Whitman.
