Altieri Edouard was a-caring son brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was born on February 25, 1946, in Hinche, Haiti to the late Job Edouard and Rosena Soiree. Rosena Soiree. At the age of 22, he had his first child Farah with Celahie Ceraphin. Many years later he met Cleane Cazeau and had their 1st son Yvens (the Late). After Yvens soon followed his daughters Carma, Murienne and his son Fred. At the age of 65 while traveling back and-forth to his beloved country Haiti, he met Nadege Archange with whom he had his two youngest children Dawens and Davens.
Among traveling to many places including Dominican Republic, Panama, Martinique and the United States, Altieri settled in Boston in 1986 to make a better life for his family. He worked multiple jobs such as Carpentry, Landscaping, taxi driving along with Filene’s in Environmental Services for a few decades before he went on to retire at the age of 61.
Altieri enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He was a dedicated family man who was always there when he was needed. He was hard hardworking and compassionate. At times, he was a jokester who appreciated a good joke and a great laugh. We cannot begin to imagine not having Altieri on the other end of the phone simply talking about today’s news or reminiscing in his plentiful moments. He loved duri kole avek anpil pwa nwa and his insistent that it wasn’t too salary or spicy. If he were here with us today his infamous lines would be’ mwen pa gen sen kob, aah pitit mwen pa bon or adye madanm. Altieri was always there for everyone. His retirement gave him many happy days traveling to Florida and Haiti as often as he could to spend time with his family.
Altieri was a HERO, a FIGHTER and most importantly a MAN OF GOD. He was a fighter until the very end. He. battled with Pulmonary Fibrosis for decades but on August 26, at 10:50 AM heaven gained another angel. He lived a fruitful life his love was unconditional, and it is something that we will cherish from his character and take with us forever.
He was the brother to the late Santonax, Maurice, Aurel, Sonson, and Clorene. He is survived by his sister Simone, his brother Rufin, his eldest daughter Farah followed by Carma Fred, Murienne, his two youngest sons Dawens and Davens, his thirteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
I am humbled by my family’s strength over the past few days and their ability to focus on the amazing life that we shared with Altieri and not dwell on his loss. We hope that we can find strength in each other and carry on his legacy for years to come.
