Jimmy Mobley, 72, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner and the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Mobley was born February 13, 1950, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late W.A. & Ada Lee White Mobley. He was a 1969 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. While in high school, he worked for James McNease at Forestry Supply and earned the nickname “Tiny”. He owned and operated several businesses throughout his life including W.A.’s Meat House and Jimmy’s Trucking. He also owned and operated Jimmy’s Lawnmower Repair, the job he loved the most. He enjoyed visiting with his customers as he repaired their small engines. He loved to fish and hunt and also loved ‘55 Chevrolets. Mr. Mobley enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and camping with his wife, especially camping close to salt water so he could fish. He was a master of the grill and was well known for his smoked meat and BBQ. Mr. Mobley will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was a fervent prayer warrior.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda Mobley of Fitzgerald; son, Johnny Mobley of Fitzgerald; grandsons: Matthew Mobley and Joshua Mobley; brothers: Willie A. Mobley, Jr. & Julie of Ocilla and Carlos Mobley of Fitzgerald; sisters: Linda Phillips & Kent of Fitzgerald and Brenda Keen & Larry of Brooksville, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Olivia Grace Mobley.
