Bobby W. Alexander, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Sandra Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Alexander was born January 24, 1943, in Tennille, Georgia, to the late William Arthur & Lillian Whitley Alexander. He was a graduate of Irwin County High School. Mr. Alexander served his country honorably in the United States Army, being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked as a surveyor and also worked for Harvey’s Supermarket and White Pest Control. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a great storyteller who had a sweet tooth for Kit Kats and Butterfingers and loved a Johnnie’s scrambled dog. Mr. Alexander’s nieces and nephews will always cherish his visits and drinking Yoo-Hoos together. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Connie Smith of Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law, Sandra Alexander of Cordele; nieces and nephews: Mark & Cathy Alexander of Woodstock, Dale & Kimberly Alexander of Canton, Paul & Becky Alexander of Cordele, David & Jill Alexander of Dawsonville, Jennifer & Chris Irish of Lynchburg, Virginia, Andy & Jodi Alexander of Fitzgerald, Brandon & Brittney Roberts of Valdosta, Cody Smith of Fitzgerald, and Shelby Smith of Fitzgerald; several great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Warren Alexander, Peggy Player, Billy Alexander, Jimmy Alexander, and Terri Alexander.
