Obituary

Jennifer A. Pierce-Gauley 63, a lifelong resident of Whitman, died Tuesday August 23 after a brave battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of 39 years to Thomas Gauley.

Born in Alexandria, VA and raised in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late David B. and Mary R. (Walsh) Pierce and a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School, Class of 1976.

After graduation Jennifer attended Massasoit Community College and worked many years in the medical field. Prior to her retirement in 2019 she had worked in the billing department of Premier Diagnostics of Avon, and earlier in her career she had worked several years as a medical technician at Navix Diagnostics of Taunton.

In 1983 Jennifer married the “love of her life” Tom and together they enjoyed camping in Greenfield, MA or searching for sea glass at Duxbury and Rexhame Beaches. They took great pride and loved spending time in their yard where Jenn designed, with the help of Tom doing the planting, the most beautiful perennial garden.

Jenn treasured the many times she hosted Thanksgiving for her family and the Christmases spent in Bridgewater with her brother David and his family. She was truly a loving wife, devoted sister, aunt and friend. She was a funny, strong, knowledgeable and extremely optimistic women, an inspiration to all who knew her.

Those who had the privilege to have known her, will always feel blessed to have had her in their lives…she will be missed.

In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by her brother David Pierce and his wife Debra, her nephews Adam Lindberg, David P. Pierce, and Jacob Pierce her nieces Johanna Vergoni and Erica Strzepek and her great niece Nora Pierce. She is also survived by her uncle Butch as well as several close cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday September 1 from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church. Burial will follow in the Saint James Cemetery.
