Obituary

Robert Doedi Moore, 90, of Worcester died Tuesday, August 2 nd at home. He leaves his children Comfort Moore, Eleanor Moore, Dr. Roland Moore, Oretha Moore Taylor, Ricky Moore, Edward Moore, and Precious Hill. His siblings, Beatrice Moore, Lucy Moore, Susanna Moore, Marie Moore, and Helen W. Gaye, 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by two sons, Robert Moore Jr. and Derick Moore. He was born in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia the son of Peter Moore and Mary T. Moore. Robert graduated from the Laboratory High School in Liberia. He studied liberal arts at the University of Liberia. Robert went to work for the Liberian Immigration when he saw the need for service. He initially served as an officer and then went on to serve as the assistant to the Chief of Immigration in Toe Town Grand Gedeh County Liberia. Mr. Moore later went to work for the Robert’s International Airport where he headed the cargo department. He continued to serve his country through the airport until 1990 when the civil war started.
Robert’s favorite pastime was spending time with family, friends, church and sports. He was a devout catholic and a member of the St. Paul’s Cathedral where he served as an usher. Mr. Moore was a volunteer at the Lutheran Home from 2006 until 2016 when his health began declining. Robert was a member of the St. Paul Cathedral Knight of Columbus Council 12182;
long time member of the Knight of St. John in West Africa until his coming to America in 2003. He was the founding President of the small African Community at the Cathedral Church and a member of the African Ministry Board in the Diocese of Worcester.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
His funeral is Friday, September 2nd with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cathedral, 38 High Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:15 until 10:15 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cathedral. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements. Repast will follow the burial and will be held at the St. Paul’s Cathedral at 1:00 pm.
