Redmond J. “Red” Aylward, of Medford, August 23rd. Beloved husband of the late Helen A. “Honey” (Thuring) Aylward. Father of Redmond Aylward and his wife Noelle of Stow, Lorna Rodio and her late husband Joseph of Sharon, Rosemary Aylward of Medford and Robert Aylward and his wife Kirsten of Martinez, Georgia. Grandfather of Alicia, Beth and her husband Phil, Joseph and his wife Ciara, Ned and his wife Jenn, Liam, Brendan and his wife Lauren and David. Great grandfather of Milo, Lyla and Nolan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors. Red has been a lifelong resident of Medford. He served his country honorably as a United States Marine during World War II. For over 30 years, Red worked as a manager at the sheet metal plant for the Gillette Company. He was an avid fisherman and boater for most of his life. First and foremost, Red was a family man who enjoyed the company of family and friends. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday August 29th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday August 28th from 2-5 PM.
