Larry Con Dippel, 74, died at his residence on August 21, 2022 after an extended illness.
He was born November 8, 1947 in Anderson, the son of George Conrad and Evelyn Caroline (Schillinger) Dippel. He had a two year tour of duty in Germany with the United States Army.
He worked as an engineer in the Fire truck Industry at Grumman Emergency Products, Inc. S & S Fire Apparatus Co. and others; starting at Howe Fire in Anderson. He enjoyed designing fire trucks for use around the world for over 40 years and retired 12 years ago. He was a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge. He loved to work with machine tools, and all other shop tools on metal and wood projects. He loved to attend car shows, antiques, flea markets and yard sales. He loved animals, especially his golden doodle, Abby. He watched all the beautiful wild birds from the back porch. He really enjoyed doing remote control car racing with his son, Chris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bernadette Dippel; his son, Christopher Con (Angela) Dippel; grandson, Ryan Zane Dippel and granddaughter, Camden Rose Dippel; cousins, Fritz (Janet) Krull and Mark Ludwig; brother-in-law, Rick Alhorn, sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Bill) Clampitt and Rebecca (Charles) Bliss.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, JoEllen Lee.
Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Fire Department.
The family is very grateful for the Community Hospital ICU Staff for all of their loving care.
