BUXTON- Terance R. Littlefield, 64, of Buxton passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of August 22, 2022, after an unexpected diagnosis.
He was born in Bangor on October 6th, 1957, the son of Walter Littlefield, Jr. and Judith Mckeen of Stockton Springs, ME.
After graduating from Searsport High School Terry had a few different jobs to support his growing family. He worked at the mill in Bucksport, RGIS Inventory , and as EMT for the Stockton Springs fire department. He also had an upholstery business with his father for a time and his own computer business that took him throughout the state for installations.
He found his calling when he went to work for Hartt Transportation in Bangor. He became their IT specialist and worked with them for many years. His name in the industry was well known and he was lured to southern Maine to work for Profit Tools for Trucking in 2004. This was a company he was very proud to work for and he continued supporting the software as the company was sold to become Envase Technologies.
His customers were throughout the US, and he traveled often doing on-site training and implementation of the software systems, even going to Guam one year. He met many people over the years and a few of them became very good friends that he always spoke highly of.
For a couple years he managed a team of co-workers that trained and would troubleshoot problems for the customers.
For many years he had wanted to move to the South, and we finally did in 2012. He enjoyed the warm weather and riding his motorcycle year round. He chose Wilmington, NC and lived there for many years until missing children, grandchildren, and family events tugged at his heart. He was so happy when he moved back to Maine in 2019.
He met many veterans when he was out riding around the area in Wilmington, and that led him to join and be involved with the VFW, post 2573. He always made it a point to ride in the 343 Ride to support and honor the 9-11 victims.
He loved nothing more than hopping on the bike just to ride. Whether it was riding around town, or a road trip to the south eastern coast of NC to enjoy some southern seafood, though he still thought New England seafood was the best! Here at home, we had many road trips/vacations Downeast to visit Boothbay Harbor, Belfast or any place on the coast with ships, boats or lighthouses.
One year we took a road trip from Maine to Myrtle Beach, SC in an RV with a trailer carrying the motorcycles to the yearly motorcycle rally. We had the pleasure of joining our great friends (more family than friends), Keith and Eileen Cole. It was a fun week for sure. “Curve…Curvee, CURVEEEE”!! LOL
His favorite vacation spots were on the water. Though he wasn’t a fan of getting into the water, just being on a boat or near the water was good for his soul. Over the years we took many cruises to the Caribbean Islands with family and friends, so anytime there was an excursion on a catamaran, or a party boat, he was there!
One of his favorite trips was a vacation with my mother, Pat Cote and her fiancé, Ray Littlefield. We went to Great Abaco Cay and spent a full week there. From spending time on the beach, chartering a boat to island hop to all the local cays, drinking the local rum and to cruising up and down the coast. He was so happy to be there, I even got him to walk up the 101 steps to the top of the Elbow Reef lighthouse to see the view of the islands and the water. If you knew Terry, you know that this was a great achievement for him as he hated heights! He never wanted to leave the island life!
We had many great trips together. He always wanted to include me when he went away. Whenever he went to fun places for work, he would ask if I wanted to go with him. He did make sure I was able to enjoy Seattle, WA with him, though he refused to go up in the Space Needle!
He was in Milwaukee, WI for over a month one summer and I was able to visit and sightsee with him out there. One year, we were invited to a Christmas party by one of his customers in St. Louis, MO. We had the best time at the party, met many people that I had heard about, and all had the nicest things to say about him. This was a great trip as well because I did get him to go up into the Arch with me and he even looked out the windows to the ground below!
As much as he enjoyed his work, his greatest joy was his family. He loved his children, but his grandchildren were the lights of his life. Any amount of time he was able to spend with them, was time well spent!
He was excited when he was able to take family trips to Disney with the grandchildren, to see how excited they were and how much fun they were having. He would talk about it often and beam to know he was able to be there with them to share and be included in those memories. He loved all of them and despite the distance, he tried to be there for all their milestones throughout the years. He was there for births, ball games, and graduations. When they called, he made the time to talk to them and to go to anything they asked him to come to. He always wanted to show his support 100%.
One of the best moments of his life was when he was asked to walk Margaret Joy down the aisle for her wedding to Tim Hopkins. He was so proud to have the honor to do this for her.
