Susan King Dorough, 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, August 20, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Dorough was born August 8, 1952, in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Lewis & Mary Hamm King. She grew up in Turner County. She worked at TexGas and H.R. Kaminsky & Sons and was the office administrator for Shaw Industries. She enjoyed the flowers in her garden and sharing photos with friends. Mrs. Dorough was an avid Facebook lover and enjoyed cooking, especially spicy food. She had a gift of loving people and loved to entertain, in particular when hosting gatherings at The Owl’s Nest. Until recently, she never missed a Hurricane home game and was president of the softball booster club for several years. Many people call her GMa as a testament to her love for everyone she considered family, blood or not. She attended Journey Church in Tifton, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Dorough of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law: Shannon & Lisa Dorough of Fitzgerald; granddaughters: Skylar & Cain Martin of Fitzgerald and Shyann Dorough of St. Augustine, Florida; and a sister, Beth Reynolds of Ashburn. She will also be greatly missed by her dog, Zeppelin.
