Obituary


Mary C. "Tina" Bonasera, of Scituate formerly of Medford passed away peacefully following a short illness, Friday, August 19, 2022. She was 90. Tina, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Bonasera. Born in Somerville she was the daughter of the late Cosmo and Marianna Pasciuto.

Tina was raised and educated in Somerville where she was a graduate of Somerville High School with the class of 1950. She went on to further her education and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Boston University in 1954. Tina was a longtime Medford resident where she was very active in all of her children’s different activities and events. Family was everything to Tina and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and those she loved most. Tina worked for over fifteen years at the Massachusetts General Hospital Blood Bank prior to her retirement in 1995. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, she loved caring for her pet dogs over the years, but most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and being present in their lives. She will be greatly missed.

Tina is survived by her children, Louis C. Bonasera and his wife Kristin of Topsfield, Marianne R. Zilonis and her late husband Stephen of Scituate, and Paul Bonasera of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Abigail and Matthew Bonasera, Andrew, Alexandra and Jack Zilonis. Cherished sister of Cosmo Pasciuto of Gloucester, the late Salvatore Pasciuto and his surviving wife Adelfa of Winchester, and the late Emo Pasciuto.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Friday, August 26th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Tina's memory to Caring for a Cure, c/o MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.
