In Middleboro, August 17, 2022 Francis “Fran” J. Smith loving husband of Suzanne (Badot) Daley and his late wife Lucille (DeRito) Smith died peacefully in his home with his family by his side at the age of 83. Born in Brockton, Fran was the son of the late Bernard and Althea (Pothier) Smith. He was a graduate of Brockton High Scholl class of 1958 and then went on to join the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Fran was retired from New England Telephone as a Repairman out of Rockland and Kiddie Products in Avon as a Facilities Manager. He was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus in Whitman and a former Guard of Honor in Brockton. Fran enjoyed playing cribbage, Bowling, reading, traveling across the U.S in his RV, camping at Bay view Campground in Bourne, his dog Lizzie and late dog Buttons and especially spending time with family and friends. Fran is survived by his son James Smith and his wife Lisa of East Bridgewater, his step children Lisa Reilly and her husband Robert of Plymouth, John Badot and his wife Heidi Badot of Halifax and David Badot and his husband Chris of Plymouth. Grandfather of Nichol Smith of Woburn. Step grandfather of David Hathaway of Middleboro, Robert Reilly of Providence, RI, Joshua Reilly of Carver, Maggie Evans of Carver, Jonathan Badot of Boston, Will Badot of Plymouth, Brett Badot of Middleboro and the late Jeremy Badot. Brother of Louise Gilson and her husband David of Easton and Elaine Mather and her husband George of Naples, FL. Uncle of several niece and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Thursday, August 25th from 5-7 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 9:45 AM.
