CHICOPEE – Armand R. Fredette, known to many as “Roland” or “Fred”, 92, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was called safely home on Monday, August 15, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on May 10, 1930, the beloved son of the late Armand J. and Kathleen M. (McGale) Fredette. He graduated from Chicopee High School in 1947. He was employed by the Sisters of Providence at Saint Luke’s Home in Springfield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Augustine “Tina” (Abel) Fredette who was called home on July 12, 2022. They were married on February 14, 1953, at Saint Theresa of Lisieux Church in South Hadley and were blessed with over 69 years of happiness together. He also leaves his eight loving children, Lawrence Fredette and his wife, Roxanne, of Chicopee; United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant John S. Fredette (who was called home on May 4, 1990) and his loving daughter-in-law, Julie Fredette of Minnesota; Mark Fredette and his wife, Roxanna, of Somers, CT; Kathleen Fredette of Chicopee; Laurie DuBois and her husband, Brant, of Chicopee; Maria Sullivan and her husband, John, of West Springfield; Thomas Fredette and his husband, Andrew Norton, of Colchester, CT; Christina Bracci and her husband, Brian, of East Longmeadow; and Tricia Garand and her husband, Adam, of South Hadley; his beloved “adopted son”, Chi Duc Tran; his 21 cherished grandchildren and 21 beloved great grandchildren; and his two dear brothers in law, Paul Abel of Florida and Robert E. Foisy of Chicopee. He was also predeceased by his beloved son, John Michael Fredette, who was called home in 1953; his dear sister, Odell “Sis” Foley; his dear brother in law, Robert Abel and his wife, Lucille; and his dear sister-in-law, Peggy Abel. His family would like to thank his visiting nurse, Laurie and the staff at Mercy Medical Center for their compassionate care. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075.
