Obituary

CHICOPEE – John S. “Nugs” Noga, 79, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on February 18, 1943, a beloved son of the late John and Mary (Pelic) Noga. He was raised in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed for over 27 years as a Lineman for the Chicopee Electric Light Department and retired in 1998. He was previously employed in his earlier years for Atlantic Aluminum in Springfield. Nugs was a member of the Moose Family Center in Chicopee. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his lifelong friends, Bob Pajak and Tom Watson. He most especially enjoyed his trips with his wife, Judy and his friends having been on 22 cruises throughout the years. He also enjoyed hosting the yearly Christmas Party for his family for many years. Any chance he had, he would go out for a drive with his wife, Judy. Above all, he loved spending time with loving family and his many dear friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Judith A. (Kobjack) Noga. They were married on July 19, 1997 in South Hadley and were blessed with over 25 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Edward J. Noga and his partner, Kelly Gloster, of Longmeadow, and Diane C. Giguere, John C. Noga, and Brett A. Allende, all of Chicopee; his six cherished grandchildren, Lauren Noga and her partner, Landon, Christopher Noga and his partner, Leundra, Cameron Giguere, Kirsten Noga and her partner, Dillon, Chandler Noga and his partner, Marissa, and Nicholas Allende and his partner, Meagan; his dear brother-in-law, Mitchell Wegrzyn of Fort Myers, FL; his special niece, Karen Long of Concord; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his beloved parents, he was also predeceased by his former wife, Lillian “Shirley” (Sheridan) Noga; his dear sister, Wanda E. Wegrzyn; his three dear brothers-in-law, Harry Schwab, John Kobjack, and Michael Kobjack; and his dear sister-in-law, Jean Davis. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.). His Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For those who prefer, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
