Myrtle Threatt Kimbrell, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Telfair County.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Jody Silvers, the Rev. Vernon Hughes, and her grandson, Jake Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with the Rev. Joey Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Kimbrell was born March 24, 1939, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Steven Roscoe & Minnie Whittle Threatt. She worked in the lunchroom at Irwin County High School and also worked at Holt’s Bakery in Fitzgerald. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered as an outstanding cook, specializing in all the good Southern dishes such as chicken and dumplings, homemade biscuits, lacy cornbread, and banana pudding. She attended New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: James Wesley Kimbrell and his wife Wanda of Fitzgerald, David Wayne Kimbrell and his wife Stephanie of Tifton, Joel Stephen Kimbrell and his wife Christy of Fitzgerald, and Kelly Michelle Padgett and her husband Zack of McRae; grandchildren: Cara & Chris Marro, Jake & Cassie Kimbrell, Abby & Logan Walker, Austin Kimbrell, Hannah Padgett, Claire Kimbrell, Tanner Padgett, Anna Kate Kimbrell, Josh Kimbrell, Jordan Kimbrell and Madison Kimbrell; great-grandchildren: Koa Kimbrell, Avery Claire Walker, Ava Marro, and another great-grandson on the way; and a sister, Laverne & Joe Moore of Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Billy Cecil Kimbrell, in 2018; two sisters: Bernadine Quinn and Billie Ann Smith; and a brother, Lamar Threatt.
