Obituary




Rutland – Florence L. (Rousseau) Marchand, 85, of Rutland and formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Florence is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Roger E. Marchand Sr.; her five children, Margaret Grisson and her husband, Daniel of Worcester, Suzanne Coughlin and her husband, Glenn of Worcester, Roger Marchand Jr.
and his partner Joy Corbin of Worcester, Dolores McCole and her husband, Phil of South Londonderry, VT and Julie Haz and her husband, Carlos of Rutland; one brother, Emile “Sonny” Rousseau of Southbridge; two sisters, Joan Baril of New Hampshire and Margaret Simmons of Worcester; 9 grandchildren, Danielle Grisson, Andrew Grisson, Dominique Grisson, Shannon Voyer, Alicia Vazquez, Benjamin Coughlin, Nicholas Haz, Emily Haz and Joshua Haz; 7 great grandchildren with an 8th expected in September and many nephews and nieces.

Florence was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Emile and Julia (Chicoine) Rousseau and is also predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Robert Rousseau and 2 sisters, Jeannette Valois and Anne Fife.

Florence graduated from the former David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School in Worcester. She was a stay at home mother and cherished the ability to be able to be with her children and grandchildren throughout the years.

Florence was a member of Saint John’s Church in Worcester and previously belonged to Holy Name of Jesus Parish where she volunteered for many years. She enjoyed puzzles, scrapbooking, sewing and camping but her happiest times were when she was traveling with her husband and being with her children and grandchildren, especially the time that was spent together every year as a family at Nickerson State Park on Cape Cod.

Calling Hours will be held on August 26th from 10-11 AM at Saint John’s Church 44 Temple Street Worcester followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions in memory of Florence may be made to St. John’s Food Pantry 44 Temple Street Worcester and St Peter’s Central Catholic School 865 Main Street Worcester
