Raymond M. Lapierre, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Aug. 8, 2022. He was born in Chicopee on Feb. 22, 1930, a son of the late Israel and Blanche Beatrice (Comtois) Lapierre. He was the owner and operator of his own cabinet making business for many years specializing in custom kitchens. He served on the Chicopee Fire Department for 29 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, watching the Red Sox, and most of all spending time with his family. He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Theresa (Dorval) Lapierre. Raymond is survived by his 2 sons, Marcel Lapierre and his wife Ann of Chicopee and David Lapierre and his wife Dawn of Belchertown; 2 daughters, Michele Snizek and her husband James of Belchertown and Lisa Lapierre of Chicopee; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: Nicole (Adrian and Emmett), Jacob, Jaime, Justin (Helen and Daniel), Amanda (Zavier and Alaya), Joshua, and Lauren, in addition to 2 step great grandchildren Maxwell and Bexley. Raymond is survived by 2 brothers Daniel and Roger and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 10 siblings, Adrian, Donald, Vincent, Yvette, Bernadette, Gertrude, Florence, Frances, Theresa and Anita. A calling hour will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A service will be held there at 11:00 AM immediately followed by a burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley.
