Catherine T. “Cathy” (Sarno) Cordeiro, age 77, of Brockton, died unexpectedly at Brigham & Women’s Hospital on August 5, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late James J. Cordeiro, Sr. for 47 years. Cathy was born and raised in Somerville, a daughter of the late Luigi and Angelina (Mancini) Sarno. She and James moved to Brockton in 1969 to raise their family.
A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Somerville, Cathy worked for over 20 years as Office Manager at Johnstone Supply, retiring in 2017. She enjoyed trips to casinos to play the slots, as well as trips to Disney World and Las Vegas. She loved to knit and to watch Blue Bloods, the Game Show network, and the Hallmark channel. Cathy was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. She was also active at St. Casimir Church.
Cathy will be remembered as a woman who was sharp as a tack and could remember every detail. She was good with numbers and was the go-to person at tax time. Cathy had a great sense of humor and she loved dogs, talking with her siblings and, most importantly, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Cathy was the loving mother of James J. Cordeiro, Jr. of Bridgewater, Carolyn Cordeiro of Fall River, Sandra Cordeiro Morgan of Brockton and Philip Cordeiro of Rochester. She leaves her seven grandchildren Brittani Cordeiro, Patrick Morgan, Taylor Cordeiro, Matthew Cordeiro, Anthony Cordeiro, Shannon Morgan and Ryan Cordeiro in addition to great granddaughter Madison Leonard and great grandson Evan Wright. Cathy was the sister of Francis Sarno of Revere, Mary Ann Robison of Reading and Patricia McSheffrey of Malden.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton on Sunday August 14, 2022, from 2-5pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday August 15, 2022, at 9:30 am for an 11am funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 153 South Franklin Street, Holbrook. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
